We’re Contributing to a Greener Lincoln
In partnership with Lincolnshire County Council
Maplebeck Tree Care is proud to be part of a collaborative effort to plant trees along the new Lincoln Eastern Bypass (A15). This initiative, spearheaded by Lincolnshire County Council, is creating a beautiful and resilient tree avenue for the city.
Planting for a Sustainable Future
During Tree Week in November 2023, Lincolnshire County Council began planting a diverse mix of approximately 100 hornbeam and beech trees. These trees are spaced 10 meters apart and will mature to form a stunning avenue. The long-term plan is to selectively remove the beech trees, allowing the hornbeams to thrive and create a lasting legacy.
Maplebeck Tree Care makes a Difference
On March 13th, 2024, Maplebeck Tree Care joined forces with Lincolnshire County Council to plant an additional 10 beech trees along the avenue. The project is ongoing, and we anticipate completing the planting in partnership with Balfour Beatty and our dedicated volunteers during Tree Week 2024.
Celebrating a National Tradition
Tree Week is a national campaign organised by the Tree Council that marks the start of the winter tree planting season. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the initiative, which began in 1973 with slogans like “Plant a tree for ’73” and “Plant some more in ’74.” These campaigns were launched in response to the devastating Dutch Elm Disease that decimated millions of native elm trees.
