Tree Removal
Tree Felling & Removal Service
Tree removal is seen as a last resort and should be avoided if at all possible. A tree that may warrant such attention poses an unacceptable risk to people and property, which is no longer worthy of retention.
Clear felling consists of the removal of the complete tree to ground level in one operation leaving the tree structure intact. When a tree is surrounded by obstacles and hazards, sectional felling is the most appropriate technique. The stump can be retained or removed with a stump grinder or Eco-plugs.

Tree Felling
Tree felling is the controlled removal of a tree where site conditions allow it to be safely felled in one piece. Before any tree removal work begins, our qualified arborists assess the tree and surrounding area, considering nearby buildings, roads, structures, other trees and access.
Where sufficient space is available, felling a tree in one piece can provide an efficient method of tree removal. It can reduce the amount of dismantling required and may help to minimise the time and equipment needed on site.
Section Dismantling
Section dismantling is a method of tree removal used where a tree cannot be safely felled in one piece. This is often required for trees growing close to buildings, roads, gardens, structures or other areas where there is limited space.
Our tree surgeons remove the tree progressively, taking branches and sections of timber down in a controlled manner. Where required, sections can be lowered using appropriate arboricultural equipment. Section dismantling provides greater control over the removal process and helps to protect surrounding property, landscaping and other trees.

Stump Treatment or Mechanical Removal?
The remaining tree stump can be treated or removed using stump grinding or eco-plugs, depending on the site and required outcome.
Eco-Plugs
Used to prevent regrowth from a remaining tree stump. Plugs contain a targeted herbicide treatment and are inserted directly into holes drilled into the stump. Allowing the active ingredient to be absorbed and transported into the root system, helping to prevent further growth.
Eco-plugs can be beneficial where complete stump removal is not required. They make less ground disturbance than stump grinding, suitable for areas that the surrounding ground, paving or landscaping needs to remain undisturbed. They can also be used where access is restricted and machinery cannot easily reach the stump.

Stump Grinding
Uses specialist machinery to mechanically grind the remaining stump and root flare below ground level. The stump is reduced into small wood chips, removing the visible obstruction without needing to excavate the entire root system.
Stump grinding can be beneficial when it’s located in a garden, lawn, planted area or close to structures, as the work can be carried out without removing the entire root system. Improving access and reduce the risk of the remaining stump becoming an obstruction.
